30 Second to Mars History
30 Seconds to Mars is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles, USA. The band was formed in 1998 by actor Jared Leto and his brother, Shannon Leto. Currently, the band consists of Jared Leto (vocals), Tomo Miličević (guitar) and Shannon Leto (drums).
Formation
Formed in 1998 by actor Jared Leto and his brother, Shannon, 30 Seconds to Mars began as a small family project. Matt Wachter later joined the band as bassist and keyboard player. After working with two other guitarists, Kevin Drake and Solon Bixler, then the band auditioned Tomo Miličević to join the band.
According to an interview from Virgin Records, the band's name;
"The name actually comes from the band found online that thesis, written by a former Harvard professor. And one part of the thesis entitled" Thirty Seconds to Mars "and in it talked about the exponential development of technology relating to human and we find ourselves literally us in thirty seconds to mars. And we think it is best to describe our music, in short ".
Although Jared Leto is a major Hollywood actor, he chose not to use his position to raise the band's name and even, he refused to play in place if they had used his name to promote the band.
30 Seconds to Mars (2002-2005)
Their self-titled album was released on August 27, 2002 by Immortal Records and Virgin Records, produced by Bob Ezrin and Brian Virtue. His first single, "Capricorn (A Brand New Name)", peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks. In the music video, the band members were in the desert where there are people digging mud holes. The band was playing in an excavation that is watched by the people. The second single of this album is "Edge of the Earth".
Their second album, A Beautiful Lie, was released on August 30, 2005 by Immortal Records and Virgin Records, produced by Josh Abraham. The first single, "Attack", carrying 30 Seconds to Mars to success. The music video for the song was filmed in a hotel that has been displaced in Hollywood.
In January 2006, the album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for the distribution of more than one million albums. [3] In March 2006, the band embarked on their first tour, called Forever Night, Never Day. In October 2006, the band embarked Welcome to the Universe Tour, sponsored by MTV2.
A Beautiful Lie (2005-2008)
The second single from the album is "The Kill" which follows the success of previous singles. This song spent 52 weeks on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks. The music video of this song by the American film The Shining. This single won the MTV2 Award at the MTV Video Music Awards, Best Single at the Kerrang! Awards, Best Live Action at the mtvU Woodie Awards Best, Video of the Year and Best Rock Video at the MTV Australian Music Awards and Best Video Inspired By Film at the Fuse Chainsaw Awards. Singel is also menduuki number 18 on the charts Top 100 Hits MTV Italy in 2007.
On March 1, 2007, while on tour in El Paso, Texas, Jared Leto announced that this was the last concert of the 30 Seconds to Mars with Matt Wachter. He dedicated his last song during the show, "R-Evolve", for Matt. They also played at various festivals such as Roskilde, Rock am Ring, Pinkpop, Give It A Name and Download.
Third single from the album is "From Yesterday" was also successful. The music video was inspired by the Italian film, The Last Emperor. This is the first rock music video ever disyut of America as a whole in the Peoples Republic of China. [5]. The fourth single from this album are "A Beautiful Lie" and very successful. Music video is a montage of images of Greenland, with scenes of the band was playing on an iceberg. This single won the Video Star at the MTV Asia Awards and the MTV Europe Music Awards, and in 2009 the single was certified Gold by MTV International. In April 2008, the fifth single from the album 30 Seconds to Mars, "Story", released only in Argentina.
30 Seconds to Mars in 2008 won Best Single for "From Yesterday" and Best International Band at the Kerrang! Awards, Best International Rock Artist at the MTV Latin America Awards and Best Rock Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards is also one of the host.
